When President Said Abdullahi Deni announced that Puntland was preparing to go to war against ISIS militants in the Cal Miskaad mountains, the response from some Somali was not one of solidarity — but of denial, mockery, and misinformation. While others chose confusion over clarity, Puntland chose the path of courage, responsibility, and national duty.
As many dismissed the threat or politicized the moment, Puntland’s leadership and its people rose with determination to confront one of the most dangerous and complex battles in Somalia’s recent history. With the critical support of international partners — including the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and others — Puntland’s security forces launched a bold and decisive offensive against well-armed, international terrorist groups who had embedded themselves deep within the unforgiving mountains of Cal Miskaad, a region marked by rugged peaks over 1,000 feet high.
This was no ordinary confrontation. It was a prolonged and high-stakes campaign against extremist networks that posed a threat not only to Puntland, but to the peace and stability of all Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa. Yet in the face of this immense challenge, the sons of Puntland stood tall — brave, disciplined, and unwavering in their commitment to defend their land and people.
At their side stood a sincere and principled President who led with integrity, refusing to yield to pressure, fear, or political games. Under his leadership, Puntland demonstrated what responsible governance and national unity can achieve in times of crisis.
We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who stood with Puntland in this defining moment — from international allies like the U.S., UAE, and Ethiopia, to every individual and institution that supported the cause of peace and stability. Your solidarity made a difference, and your support will not be forgotten.
May Allah bless the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in defense of Puntland. Their courage is eternal, and their memory sacred. May the people of Puntland remain protected, united, and steadfast in their pursuit of peace, justice, and sovereignty.
