According to Puntland officials U.S. Navy warships and surveillance aircraft have been positioned off the coast of Puntlandโs Ras Aseir region, closely monitoring maritime activities in the area, according to security officials in Bosaso.
Security analysts report that U.S. intelligence initially shared information about the vessel with Puntland security forces โ a move that significantly facilitated its interception in international waters by Puntlandโs maritime units.
