Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, who is accused of killing 42 women, including his wife, escaped from the Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi, Kenya, along with 12 other inmates.

“Police officers helped 13 inmates, including a murder suspect from Kware, escape from Gigiri Police Station, according to Acting Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli.”

The police say he confessed to the murders, which took place between 2022 and July 11, 2024, with the bodies being dumped in Kware.

Khalusha has claimed that he was tortured by the police and that his confession was forced.

His lawyer, John Maina Ndegwa, asked for urgent medical care for Khalusha and said that the accusations against him were “ridiculous.”    However, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) denied the torture claims and asked for more time to find witnesses and the families of the victims. Despite Ndegwa’s objections, who argued that the DCI’s evidence was weak, the court allowed the DCI to keep Khalusha in custody for 30 more days to continue the investigation.
