Mogadishu based federal government is currently facing unconstitutional term extension opposition that results from claims of an extended term limit, which is coming from supporting Western governments, and it is making significant efforts to convince the C6+ ambassadors of its request, though this is difficult.
On 7 May, the international representatives, excluding those from the US and the UK, held a meeting in Mogadishu and agreed collectively that the government should be dealt with under Operational Policy 7.30 (OP 7.30), a framework typically used for countries that have lost statehood or experienced coups or popular uprisings without legal processes.
Two members of the cabinet were sent to speak with the international representatives on Monday, but Villa Somalia is concerned that a harsh statement from these parties may be issued beforehand.
On 14 May, the ambassadors of the UK and the US informed the leaders brokered in Halane fortified complex that if they fail to reach an agreement, they will report to their respective countries that Somalia has entered a new phase leading them to take specific measures.
