The tripartite meeting hosted by Eritrea’s President for his counterparts of Egypt and Somalia was to show a united front position against PM Abiya Ahmed’s overreaching political and security ambitions.
The United States, Turkey and other western powers share frustration on Abiya’s aggressive agendas within Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa putting risk to uncontrollable conflicts.
Reports from that meeting say that President Sisi has delivered to Somalia military assets and will continue to arm both Somalia and Eritrea to stand against Ethiopia. Egyptian navy are expected to patrol Somalia’s Red Sea corridor to prevent Ethiopian intervention.
On the other hand, Egypt is expected to continue delivering weapons of all sizes and ranges to Somali National Army including the training of 200 Artillery brigade.
However, the biggest worry is that these weapons may end up in the wrong hands.
