Garowe: November 06, 2023: The Federal Government of Somalia, which has failed in all its mandated duties and has been without a functioning leadership for months, is now dedicating its efforts to a campaign of “defamation, fabrication, and incitement.”
The Puntland Government categorically denies any involvement in the civil war in Sudan or the alleged use of Bosaso Airport for operations against Sudan. Puntland strongly condemns the Federal Government for leveling these baseless and slanderous accusations against us.
These false allegations are a cheap attempt to tarnish the historic successes achieved by Puntland and its international partners in the fight against the international terrorists of Al-Miskad mountains in the Bari region. This defamation and fabrication only serve to support and encourage the ISIS and AS terrorists, whom Puntland and its allies have been fiercely combating for over a year.
Sudan is a brotherly nation. We deeply regret the internal conflict there and urgently hope for a return of peace and stability.
Furthermore, the Federal Government of Somalia has admitted to secretly funding militias within Puntland.
Therefore, the Puntland Government makes it clear that the only legitimate armed forces present in its territory are its own constitutional forces. No formal security architecture exists between Puntland and the Federal Government. Consequently, the Federal Government in Mogadishu bears full responsibility for any harm caused by the militias it admits to funding within our borders.
In conclusion, the Puntland Government extends its profound gratitude to its international partners—including the USA, UAE, UK, Ethiopia, and Kenya—for their support in the ongoing battle in the Al-Miskad mountains. We also thank the resilient people of Puntland, both at home and abroad, for their unwavering support of their government, which has been instrumental in preventing the terrorists from achieving their goals.
