This is the reality many Puntlanders express openly today: our patience is finished, our sacrifices have been exploited, and our future cannot be tied to a federal system that has failed us for more than two decades.
Puntland built Somalia’s federal system. Puntland defended it. Puntland paid for it in blood and resources.
And for twenty years, the south has responded with nothing but obstruction, sabotage, and a relentless campaign to weaken Puntland’s autonomy.
This is not frustration anymore — it is a collective awakening.
1.Puntland Carried Somalia — The South Dragged It Down
Across Puntland, people say the same thing:
“We built the federal system — they destroyed it.”
“We stabilized Somalia — they undermined us.”
“We sacrificed our sons — they repaid us with hostility.”
Puntland created the federal model to prevent dictatorship and ensure fair power‑sharing.
But the south has spent twenty years trying to reverse it, centralize power, and erase Puntland’s influence.
The majority view is blunt:
The south has never accepted federalism and never will.
- Puntland Will Not Be a Launchpad for Federal Ambitions
A sharper sentiment is rising across Puntland:
“No more presidents who use Puntland as a stepping stone to Muqdisho.”
People are tired of leaders who:
leave Puntland behind for federal campaigns
chase positions in a system that doesn’t work
ignore Puntland’s suffering while seeking national power
The public expectation is clear and forceful:
Puntland’s president must stay focused on Puntland — not on federal elections.
The people demand leadership rooted in Puntland’s survival, not in political fantasies about fixing a system that refuses to be fixed.
3.Puntland Cannot Keep Reliving the Same Nightmare
For two decades, Puntland has repeated the same cycle:
Build Somalia
Support Somalia
Stabilize Somalia
Get betrayed by Somalia
People across Puntland say openly:
“We cannot keep dying for a system that collapses every year.”
“We cannot keep waiting for a federal government that works against us.”
“We cannot keep pretending the south is ready for federalism.”
The majority opinion is now crystal clear:
There is no future in waiting for Muqdisho.
- Puntland Must Take Bold, Unapologetic Action
The public mood has shifted from frustration to determination. Many Puntlanders believe that Puntland must now:
assert its constitutional rights under Article 4.3
protect its security partnerships, especially with the UAE
defend its institutions from federal interference
prioritize Puntland’s interests above all else
take decisive steps to secure its future
This is not aggression — it is self‑defense.
The majority view is sharp and unwavering:
“Puntland must act now, before more damage is done.”
- Puntland’s Destiny Cannot Be Decided in Muqdisho
Across Puntland, people say:
“Muqdisho cannot dictate our future.”
“We have waited long enough.”
“Puntland must stand on its own feet.”
The belief is growing that Puntland must chart its own path — one that protects its people, its security, and its future without depending on a federal system that has repeatedly failed.
Conclusion: Puntland’s Era of Sacrifice Is Over
This opinion reflects what many Puntlanders feel today:
Puntland has sacrificed enough
Puntland has waited enough
Puntland has been undermined enough
Now, Puntland must take bold, historic, and irreversible action to safeguard its people and secure its future.
The majority view is unmistakable:
Puntland first — now, tomorrow, and always.
