In a new letter to the UN Security Council, the Somali government reiterates request to have UNSomalia terminated, reveals that there was a call between HassanSMohamud and antonioguterres on April 29 in which the former requested initiation of a planning process to “articulate a clear end state toward a transition from a special political mission to a United Nations Country Team,” per statement.
The new letter hints that the previous one did not acknowledge importance of following a process to transition.
The new letter emphasise the initiation of the planning process, and the appointment of a joint technical team to determine modalities and timeline for the transition.
